OUR MISSION:
The Affiliated Veterinary Emergency Service (AVES) was opened in 1986 in response to a need in our community to provide quality emergency medical care for pets during the hours your veterinarian is normally closed or unavailable (nights, weekends, holidays).
The AVES is an extension of your veterinarian's practice and it's purpose is: (1) to provide continuous high quality veterinary emergency care and (2) to coordinate the medical care provided at the emergency clinic with your veterinary hospital.
What To Do in An Emergency:
| 1. Remain calm. | |
| 2. Phone your veterinarian or emergency hotline. | |
| 3. Do NOT attempt home remedies. | |
| 4. Discuss the emergency with the staff on duty. | |
| 5. Copy directions to the clinic carefully. | |
| 6. Be careful when handling injured animals. Animals in pain often bite. |
Office Hours:
|
Weeknights: |
5 p.m. to 8 a.m. |
|
Weekends: |
5 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Monday |
|
24 Hours on all Holidays |
|
The clinic is available to all emergency cases; both referrals and walk-ins are welcomed. If possible, please phone ahead so that we may assist you in deciding the best method for handling your situation.
Further Therapy:
All follow-up therapy necessary for your pet will be done by your veterinarian at his/her facility. When your pet leaves our clinic, your veterinarian will receive complete information on all treatments given at AVES. For your pet's benefit, please follow-up as suggested.
Facilities:
To aid our staff in swift, accurate diagnosis, our facility is equipped with a full laboratory for blood analysis, digital radiology, cardiac EKG's, ultrasound, as well as many of the more routine diagnostic procedures.
The Emergency Service is centrally located for easy accessibility from the Downriver and Monroe areas. (See Location for map).
Fees:
Our fees are usual and customary for our community. You are encouraged to discuss any questions; treatment, medication, fees, with the veterinarian or staff on duty.
It is our policy to provide a tentative diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and estimated fee in advance of treatment. Please be aware that the estimate may vary as a result of critical care included in some life-threatening circumstances, we will make every effort to keep you appraised of the situation.
If your pet is admitted for care, a deposit will be required with the balance due at time of discharge. If your pet is not admitted, payment is due at the time of service.
Cash, personal checks, VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express cards are accepted. The Emergency Service cannot extend credit; however a third party billing option is available through CareCredit (requires credit approval) during specific hours.
